Overclocking

Dry ice is used frequently for overclocking. During this process a processor in a computer is set at a higher clocking frequency than originally would be the case. Digital components often work by a certain rhythm that is indicated by an electrical signal. This so-called clocking signal starts from a certain frequency from zero to a certain voltage and back again. For example, if a video card or processor  comes out of the factory, the manufacturer has set a certain clocking speed for the product. A lot of processors are not yet set to their absolute maximum, but just did not make the specifications for the more expensive version. A processor runs at the speed the  manufacturer sets. The refrigerating is set at that speed, although there is always a certain buffer. If you decide to overclock, it is essential that your computer has an excellent refrigerating mechanism. With dry ice you can equip your processor with the right  refriderating mechanism, so that de speed is optimal and the risk for damages is down to a minimum.
